My Wedding Ring

Well, there are only two days left to vote for the fate of my wedding ring.  As it stands right now, 13 people have voted.  10 have voted that I sell the ring.  3 have voted that I don't sell the ring.

Does anyone have any knowledge in this area?  Realistically, what is the value of my platinum ring?  In my original post, I had estimated it to be worth $1,200-$1,500, however, after a bit of research, I realized how grossly over-estimated that was.  I think it's more likely to be in the $300-$500 range.  At the time of this post, platinum is at $1,663 per ounce.  A month ago, platinum was hovering around the $1,400 price range, so it's seen a nice spike over the last 30+ days.  I honestly don't know what is causing this jump as precious metals is something I know absolutely nothing about.  And quite frankly, I don't particularly care to learn about precious metals.

Is now the time to sell?  Should I wait to see if the price continues to increase to squeeze every last penny out of my ring?  What's causing this increase in platinum prices?  Damn, I have so many questions.   Help me out guys!

$18,322.08 to go!!!

  1. I don't have much knowledge of jewelry but if the ring holds no personal connection to you, then its probably best that you go ahead and sell it. It doesn't sound like you have any feeling towards the ring but I could be wrong. Its probably best to to try and pay off as much debt as possible.

  2. Nope. No personal connection. It symbolized the marriage and bond between my soon-to-be-ex-wife until.....ahem, she had an affair. :)
